Make These in the Name of Love

Ok – Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. (If you’re not a fan, I totally feel you. Sorry for all the lovey dovey, heart themed crafts I’ve been sharing for the past few weeks – and take solace in the fact that it is nearing an end.)

But if you are a fan, and you need some last minute ideas for quick decorations or gifts, here is a round of up some relatively simple projects that you can knock out while you are snowed in by winter storm number 9,452 this week. (Oh, how envious I am of you California friends…)

You can make most of these projects with supplies you may already even have on hand, so have fun crafting your little heart out!  xo!

Wrapped Wire Heart

Happy Monday! I hope you had a great weekend! I had a kind of stinky weekend, but I’ve got quite a week ahead and am determined to get through it with a smile. The good news is there is a three day weekend on the horizon, not to mention the promise of a lovely date night with my beau in honor of Valentine’s Day.

Speaking of Valentine’s Day, today I want to share a really easy Wrapped Wire Heart DIY.

WrappedHeart2(1)

This was one of those “let me experiment with this random stuff I have in my craft closet while watching the Olympics Opening Ceremony” projects. (Who wants one of those white furry vest & hat ensembles for this cold winter?? I do!)

So to make your own wrapped wire heart (or letter, star, or any other shape), you’ll need three things:

Wire (I used this kind)

String, Yarn, Twine, or whatever you want to wrap it with!  (I used pink jute twine from Michael’s)

Hot Glue Gun

All you have to do is bend your wire into the shape of your choice, and then wrap it! Use hot glue at the start & finish to keep everything in place, and that’s it!

You could make a few of these and string ’em on a garland, or make a mobile, or use them in a gallery wall on a teeny nail. Oh, the possibilities!

Have a wonderful day!

Mini Doily & Feather Valentine’s Garland

VDayGarland1

VDayGarland5

This sweet Valentine’s Day garland is as easy as pie! I love it in my kitchen right now, bringing some of that trademark Valentine’s Day pink & red to my love themed chalkboard.

Supplies:

Mini pink & red doilies (I found these at Michael’s)

White Feathers

Baker’s Twine

Scissors

All you have to do is tie your doilies & feathers onto the baker’s twine, spacing them out & alternating them however you choose. So simple!

I love garlands so much. I mean, you can pretty much string just about anything you want onto string, rope or twine & call it a garland. They are usually a breeze to make, and are an awesome way to add simple little touches for holidays & seasons to your regular decor!

Happy Friday, everyone – I hope you have a great weekend!

Tuesday Things

I hope everyone is having a great week so far! Are you all caught up on sleep after Superbowl Sunday? I’ve got a few favorites for you today in preparation for Valentine’s Day. The theme is “arrows” because I happen to be obsessed with arrow decor right now (as you’ll see again in tomorrow’s DIY!)

These Earrings

This Awesome DIY

These Cupcake Toppers

cupidsarrow-1I love these cupid’s arrow cupcake toppers from Creature Comforts – not to mention those cupcakes look pretty freaking amazing, too.

Enjoy my V-Day, arrow themed faves for the week & have a great day!

January Highlights

Well, I don’t know about you… but I’m pretty sure that I just blinked and January was already over. HOLY COW this month flew by! Yes, my work weeks have averaged 60+ hours. Yes, it has been bitterly cold. And yes, I probably only earned a B+ in my Apartment Therapy January Cure attempt. BUT, on the bright side – I’ve managed to make some awesome projects to brighten my home through the winter (and somehow photograph them even though I feel like I am never home during daylight).

Here are some of my favorites from this past month, in case you haven’t visited in a while (or want a reminder of these super easy projects that YOU can do too)!

JanuaryHighlights

Here’s the rundown:

Top Row (left to right): 1) January started off with the creation of our Happy Jar, a place to keep track of special moments & happy things throughout 2014. 2) I made a pair of friendly dinosaur key chains for my bestie & me. 3) Quick tips for arranging grocery store flowers for your next dinner party!

Middle Row: 1) Whip out the mason jars & fill them with feathers, pictures & moss for a rustic, wintry vignette. 2) See how I made this giant burlap covered canvas arrow art! (Psst…it was SO easy!) 3) A little piece of monogram art made from a birch slice & wooden letter.

Bottom Row: 1) As part of that aforementioned January Cure w/ Apartment Therapy, I tackled this bathtub caulk issue (update on the bathroom refresh coming soon!) 2) Bringing some more love-related decorations into the home for Valentine’s Day (and general winter cheer), I made an easy heart shaped twig & berries wreath. 3) Probably my favorite project of the month, this rustic photo display was a cinch to make, and is an awesome way to display beautiful prints in a unique manner!

What awesome things did you accomplish this month?  I’m excited for February – there’s Valentine’s Day, plus good old President’s Day (and a day off from school!), and it will bring us just that much closer to warmer weather and longer, sunnier days!

Have a great Friday & a wonderful weekend!
