Have you ever tried working with quick set cement? It was so much easier than I thought it would be! With just a few supplies & a few hours, I had this little square cement planter for one of my air plants.
To make your own, you will need card stock, painter’s tape, a tea light candle & quick set cement. I used a bag of cement mix from a Whimsey Box that I had from several months ago (p.s. – my husband bought me a Whimsey Box subscription for Christmas, and I can’t wait to get my first kit!)
You can use any kind of disposable container to make your planter. I wanted a square shape, so I made my own box with card stock & painters tape. Now that I know how easy it is to make these, I’ve got a bunch of other shapes/ideas I want to try!
After filling the box with cement mix (follow the instructions on your mix to determine the amount of water needed to reach a peanut butter like consistency), I pressed a tea light candle into the center to form the hole for my air plant.
After about 30 minutes, I was able to tear the card stock off the cement box that had formed, and pull the candle out. I let my planter sit for another 24 hours, and then wrapped some gold wire around it & popped in an air plant!
This was so easy & fun, I can’t wait to make more cement projects!
Thanks for stopping by!
